Cambodia, USAID to Continue Strengthening Cooperation

Phnom Penh, January 18, 2024 --

The Royal Government of Cambodia and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will continue tightening their cooperation.

The commitment was made when Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet received a courtesy visit from H.E. Ms. Samantha Power, Administrator of USAID, in Davos, Switzerland on Jan. 17 on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2024.

On the occasion, H.E. Ms. Samantha Power reported the progress of USAID’s assistance projects in Cambodia, especially in the fields of education and early childhood protection through the cooperation with the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in hygiene education programmes and school facilities for young children.

At the same time, the USAID administrator praised the Royal Government of Cambodia for its efforts to reduce the rate of infectious diseases and the mortality rate of infants and young children under the age of five.

H.E. Ms. Samantha Power reaffirmed the continuation of existing cooperation and continued support on education and environment, focusing on biodiversity conservation, ecosystem protection and community improvement in Cambodia.

In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked USAID for its cooperation projects in Cambodia, and expressed his high appreciation for the USAID's support and assistance in contribution to the Kingdom's socio-economic development.
