Cambodia, Germany to Boost Parliamentary Cooperation

Phnom Penh, January 09, 2024 -- Cambodia and the Federal Republic of Germany have vowed to boost bilateral cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments. The commitment was made in a meeting between H.E. Kitti Sethapundit Cheam Yeap, First Vice President of Cambodia's National Assembly (NA), and H.E. Tino Chrupalla, Chairman of Alternative for Germany (AfD) Party Parliamentary Group, on Jan. 8 at the NA’s palace in Phnom Penh.

H.E. Kitti Sethapundit Cheam Yeap thanked the German government for playing an active role in Cambodia's development through a range of cooperation. In terms of parliamentary cooperation, the NA first vice president asked the German side to facilitate exchange visits by high-level delegations between the two parliaments.

Beyond that, he encouraged Germany to support civil society organisations in Cambodia, provide more scholarships to Cambodian students, and encourage more German investment in the Kingdom. H.E. Tino Chrupalla thanked the Cambodian NA's first vice president for the appreciation and spoke highly of Cambodia’s rapid development.
