Rural Development Minister and German Ambassador Discuss Cooperation

Phnom Penh, November 18, 2023 --

The Minister of Rural Development has received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Cambodia for a cooperation discussion.

The minister, H.E. Chhay Rithi Sen, met with the ambassador, H.E. Stefan Messerer, at the ministry on Nov. 17.

He walked the German diplomat through the ministry's priorities, guided by the Royal Government's Pentagonal Strategy-Phase I.

They include the expansion of rural road infrastructure and transport, better access to public services such as sanitation and hygiene in remote areas, and rural economic diversification through skills training and job creation for youths.

Strengthening grassroots-level administrative services, sub-national institutional capacity building, and good governance is also the ministry's priority.

H.E. Stefan Messerer spoke highly of the priorities as well as the overarching Pentagonal Strategy-Phase I and reaffirmed his commitment to support the ministry's rural development interventions.
