Phnom Penh, September 07, 2023 --

Cambodia has applauded the Government of Japan for its active contribution to humanitarian mine action in the former, enabling safe land for farmers and reducing mine and ERW risks.

H.E. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), underscored the acknowledgement in an event he chaired with H.E. Ueno Atsushi, Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia.

Taking place on Sept. 5 here in Phnom Penh, it was a handover ceremony of the Japanese government’s aid to Cambodia under the Economic and Social Development Programme.

The Royal Government of Cambodia remains deeply committed to ending landmines, said the senior minister, calling for more contributions from development partners as well as donors to support Cambodia in making Cambodia free from landmines.

The Japanese Ambassador highly appreciated the results of demining achievements in Cambodia.

According to H.E. Ambassador, Japan has also assisted Cambodia in international cooperation, most recently with the training of experts from Ukraine.
