Phnom Penh, August 28, 2023 --

The Kingdom of Cambodia and the European Union (EU) have been committed to further boosting their cooperation as well as expanding the direction of cooperation in other areas such as education and human resource development, health, and civil service.

The commitment was made by H.E. Kitti Tesaphibal Pundit Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and outgoing EU Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Ms. Maria Del Carmen Moreno, during their farewell meeting here at the Peace Palace this morning.

On the occasion, H.E. Ms. Maria Del Carmen Moreno extended congratulations to H.E. Kitti Tesaphibal Pundit and spoke highly of Cambodia's achievements, especially in controlling the COVID-19 crisis, the launch of an effective social assistance programme, and the proud ASEAN chairmanship in 2022.

For his part, H.E. Kitti Tesaphibal Pundit Hun Manet thanked the outgoing EU ambassador for the congratulations and for the EU’s close cooperation with Cambodia so far.

The 7th-mandate Royal Government of Cambodia will focus particularly on building human capital, conduct health reform at grassroots level, and reform the civil service sector, he underlined.

The Cambodian Premier also requested the EU to continue supporting and financing the “Multi-annual Indicative Programme 2021-2027-Phase 2” to facilitate Cambodia's trade and exports to the EU market.
