Cambodia Revitalises Equestrian
Phnom Penh, June 20, 2024 --
The President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) supports the Cambodian Equestrian Federation (CEF)’s efforts to establish an international standard equestrian court in Cambodia.
The NOCC President, H.E. Dr. Thong Khon, who is also a senior minister, voiced his support in a meeting with CEF, followed by an inspection visit to Cambodia's new equestrian court in Phnom Penh recently.
Cambodia’s engagement in equestrian sports dates back to a period led by His Majesty the Late King-Farther Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk (Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh) in 1960.
According to CFE, Mr. Jack Huang, Vice President of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (Fédération équestre internationale), or FEI visited the Genius Resort Equestrian Club in Phnom Penh on June 17. H.E. Tith Dina, Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, was also present.
“The top FEI official's visit not only shows that Cambodian equestrian sports have promise, but it also offers support and encouragement and is a positive manifestation of the growth of the national sport in general.,” said the NOCC. “This collaboration will serve as yet another crucial catalyst for the advancement of high-quality human and technical resources, helping the Cambodian national equestrian team get ready for international competitions like the many equestrian disciplines-filled 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. Furthermore, it presents a chance to develop the youth athletes' resources in preparation for hosting the 5th Asian Youth Games in 2029.”
