A Thai Frigate Docks At Preah Sihanouk Province

Phnom Penh, April 05, 2024 --

A frigate of the Royal Thai Navy – HTMS Bangpakong (FF 456) – this morning docked at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port in Preah Sihanouk province for a three-day visit in Cambodia.

With 229 crewmembers, the military ship of 102.78 metres long, 11.36 metres wide and 4.2 metres deep was warmly welcomed upon arrival by Rear Admiral Ros Veasna, Deputy Commander of Ream Naval Base.

The visit, from April 5 to 7, is aimed to tighten the solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the Cambodian and Thai navies.

According to the schedule, the HTMS Bangpakong (FF 456)’s commander will pay separate courtesy calls on Preah Sihanouk provincial governor, and commander of Ream Naval Base.

There will also be an exchange of experience and a friendship football match between the two navies.

In late February, the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port also welcomed the docking of two vessels of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) – DDG-172/TV-3521 SHIMAKAZE and DD-114 SUZUNAMI – bringing along 435 crewmembers in total for a three-day visit.
