Cambodia, Philippines Pledge To Continue Education Cooperation

Phnom Penh, March 22, 2024 --

Cambodia and the Philippines have pledged to continue cooperation in education.

The commitment was made in a meeting in Phnom Penh between H.E. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports, and H.E. Mrs. Hon. Sara Z. Duterte, Vice President, Secretary of Education, and President of the SEAMEO Council on Mar. 21.

The two sides also agreed on reviewing the work progress of the Southeast Asia Centre for Technical Education Development, which was established in 2007 in Phnom Penh.

They exchanged experiences on special education, focusing on early childhood education and technical and vocational training programmes in high schools linked to higher education in partnership with private institutions.

H.E. Hang Chuon Naron thanked the Government of the Philippines for providing scholarships to 60 Cambodian students for technical and vocational training and hoped that this cooperation would continue to grow.

H.E. Mrs. Hon. Sara Z. Duterte also spoke highly of noticeable progress in Cambodia's education.
