Phnom Penh, July 20, 2023 --

Different delegations of international observers have successively arrived in Phnom Penh since July 19 to monitor the forthcoming 7th general election in Cambodia.

The delegations already arrived in the Kingdom via Phnom Penh International Airport include those from the Centrist Democrat International (CDI-IDC), Lao PDR, International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), ASEAN Secretariat, Maldives, International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and so on.

In a message on his social media networks this morning, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen extended warm welcome to all the 333 excellencies from 65 countries and international institutions who are visiting the Kingdom of Cambodia to observe the 7th National Assembly general election, to be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023.

At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked the speaker of the Parliament of Malaysia and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau for the direct observation.

The Cambodian Premier also expressed thanks to the 11 former heads of state, heads of government, former presidents and vice presidents of the National Assembly for taking the time to travel to Cambodia to witness the democratic process in Cambodia.

Cambodia has already organised the general election for six times, and the seventh general election in 2023 has received the largest number of foreign observers and the highest number of dignitaries, Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined.

Besides foreign observers, the National Election Committee (NEC) has so far accredited nearly 90,000 national observers from 134 organisations and associations.

Across the 25 capital and provinces of Cambodia, 23,789 polling stations have been allocated for the election on Sunday.

Eighteen parties joining the political race are running their campaigns peacefully, and no major incidents related to the campaign have been reported.
