Samdech Men Sam An Elected President of SFDCM National Council

Phnom Penh, November 15, 2023 --

Samdech Kittisangahapundit Men Sam An, Vice President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) was unanimously elected President of the National Council of the Solidarity Front for Development of Cambodian Motherland (SFDCM).

The election was held during the 6th SFDCM Congress at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel this morning under the presidency of Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, CPP Honorary President and former President of the SFDCM National Council, and Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, CPP President and President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King.

At the same time, Samdech Heng Samrin was elected Honorary President of the SFDCM National Council, while Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet will hold the Honorary Presidium, and H.E. Hun Many was endorsed to be a Vice President of the SFDCM National Council.

According to the SFDCM National Council’s Resolution released this afternoon, the 6th SFDCM Congress agreed with the report and evaluation of the work activities of the Front at all levels in the past 17 years, from 2006 to 2023, and set forth future work direction, programmes and activities.

The congress praised the Front at all levels for its efforts to carry out with proud results its work in accordance with the tasks set and handed over by the people, and called on all Front members to continue to support and actively participate in the programmes and action plans set out by the Front in contribution with the Royal Government to attain new major achievements in building and developing the nation.

The congress thanked friendly countries, especially the Communist Party of Vietnam, as well as the Vietnamese government, army and people for responding to the call of the Kampuchean United Front for National Salvation (KUFNS) to liberate Cambodia and its people from the genocidal regime.

The 6th SFDCM Congress also expressed its deepest gratitude to all patriotic dignitaries, especially Samdech Heng Samrin and Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the Front’s founders, who had sacrificed their flesh and blood with great heroism in the cause of national liberation, reconstruction and development until the current progress.

Besides, the congress appealed to all compatriots and all social circles to continue to unite under the constitution and under the motto of “Nation, Religion, King” to gain new and greater achievements for the nation.
