Phnom Penh, November 07, 2023 --

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this morning encouraged all coastal provinces, including Preah Sihanouk, Koh Kong, Kep and Kampot, to work together to boost tourism and foreign investment.

While holding a get-together with more than 15,000 workers and employees from 30 factories and enterprises at Cambodian Zhejiang Guoji Special Economic Zone in Prey Nup district, Preah Sihanouk province, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his appreciation for the achievements in Preah Sihanouk and other coastal provinces, and recommended them to join hands for a common goal.

Cambodia’s costal area is considered as a diamond, but it needs to be processed for the best, he underlined, adding that there will be no chance to transform the said diamond into a potential if there is war.

Besides, the Premier advised the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to study the development of Cambodian railways to run at least at 80 kilometres per hour, and congratulated the planned groundbreaking for a deep seaport construction in Preah Sihanouk province before the end of 2023.

Cambodia has a coastline of 435 kilometres while the Economic Exclusive Zone covers an area of approximately 42,000 square kilometres.
