Cambodian PM: Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Will Increase

Phnom Penh, October 24, 2023--

Cambodia’s Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his hope that Cambodia-Japan cooperation will increase in all fields, especially in tourism, investment and people-to-people exchange.

The remarks was made known when Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet met with H.E. Komura Masahiko, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan and former Vice President of the Liberal Democratic Party at the Peace Palace here this afternoon.

On the occasion, H.E. Komura Masahiko thanked Samdech Thipadei for sharing his precious time to allow him and his accompanied members to pay a courtesy call on and congratulate his nomination as Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia in the 7th legislature of the National Assembly.

In the meeting, H.E. Komura Masahiko expressed his surprise to witness the rapid and strong development in Cambodia due to the wise leadership and wisdom of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen in the past.

In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet warmly welcomed H.E. Komura Masahiko ‘s visit to Cambodia and took the opportunity to thank the Government and the people of Japan for their all-sided assistance and support to Cambodia in all circumstances, from the post-war era to the development as of today.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stressed the stability of Cambodia's foreign policy, especially in the bilateral relations between Cambodia and Japan and hoping that the cooperation between the two countries will further increase in all areas.

Earlier this morning, H.E. Komura Masahiko also paid his visit to Samdech Techo Hun Sen who is President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King and President of the Cambodian People’s Party at the January 7 Palace.

In the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen also requested his Japanese guests to encourage more Japanese investors to invest in Cambodia and welcome Cambodia’s goods.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also recalled his first meeting with H.E. Komura Masahiko in 1998.
