Cambodians Everywhere Laud Cambodia's Tally Of Medals Collected At SEA Games

As the host of the 32nd SEA Games, Cambodia stands among the top in the ranking of winning gold medals, hiking pride among both domestic and overseas fellow Cambodians.

AKP reached out to some of them and compiled their expressed pride.

Ms. Keo Rany, who lives in Long Beach, California of the United States of America, was thrilled seeing Cambodians everywhere flocking in the Kingdom to witness the historic games.

"Cambodians in the United States are very excited and very happy," she added.

Mr. Sok Sothun, a math teacher at Preah Sisowath High School in Phnom Penh, watched the games on TV and on social media live stream said, first he did not expect Cambodian athletes to win so many medals."

"Within my entire 60-year life now, I had never seen Cambodia hosting the SEA Games. Now we are hosting it with a high standard. We offer accommodation and food for sports delegations free of charge," he continued.

He also called on all his country people, especially the direct audience of the games to maintain good order and dignity for the honour of Cambodia as a host.

Mr. Sim Soeun, a peacekeeping force in an engineering unit in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) was so satisfied with the role of Cambodia as the host of the games.

Mr. Yim Dip, the warehouse manager of a private company in Battambang province, noticed that the performance of Cambodia in the games promoted pride and unity among the people.

"There are many more medals. I am positive that Cambodian athletes will collect more medals," he added.

Mr. Yim Dip also observed remarkable progress in Cambodia's sports, both physically and technically.

Ms. Ton Kim Houy, a lawyer living in Sihanoukville, shared that "As a Cambodian, I feel very happy and proud of my country for winning so many medals, building up honour for the nation."

According to the medal tally update of the 32nd SEA Games 2023, as of 12:00 on May 11, Cambodia has won 137 medals, including 47 gold, 41 silver and 49 bronze.

With the collected medals, Cambodia was ranked second after Vietnam and before Thailand.
