Phnom Penh, September 20, 2023 --

Cambodia will work with all partners to unlock potentials of Global Development Initiative (GDI) and to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), affirmed Cambodian Senior Minister H.E. Ouch Borith on Sept. 19.

In his address to the High-Level Meeting on GDI Cooperation Outcomes – GDI for SDGs: Actions and Progress in New York, H.E. Ouch Borith underscored Cambodia’s enthusiastic participation in the GDI, which has garnered support from over 100 countries and organisations in just two years since its inception.

The Kingdom takes great pride in being a part of this initiative and is motivated by the substantial progress of the GDI whose fundamental principles are to prioritise development, adopt a people-centered approach, ensure no one is left behind, and build global development partnerships, he said.

H.E. Ouch Borith also conveyed sincere appreciation to the People’s Republic of China for its leadership and unwavering commitment to the GDI.

The Senior Minister emphasised the significant role of the GDI's development projects in contributing to the Kingdom’s national development goal - a vision of Cambodia becoming a highmiddle-income nation by 2030 and a high-income nation by 2050.

H.E. Ouch Borith reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to collective action and decisive measures aimed at addressing challenges and accelerating progress while leaving no country or individual behind.

He concluded by expressing Cambodia’s readiness to work closely with all partners to unlock the full potentials of the GDI, thereby advancing the SDGs and fostering a brighter future for all.
