Cambodian Petanque Athletes Return Home With 6 Medals

Phnom Penh, August 23, 2023—

Cambodian sports delegates and athletes have returned home from the 5th Asian Petanque Championship in Malaysia with 6 medals, including 1 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze. Their arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport early this week was welcomed by Mr. Pon Sok, President of the National Centre for Sports Training of the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, accompanied by leaders of the Boules and Petanque Federation of Cambodia. Ms. Un Sreya got the gold medal in the women’s shooting event, and the silver medal was grabbed by Mr. Sin Vong, Mr. Iet Sophat, Mr. Sok Chanmean, and Mr. Heng Thorn in the 3x3 men's event. The bronze medals were won in scoring fighting by Mr. Thong Chhoeun in 3x3 youth, 3x3 men's team, and 3x3 women's team.

 Twenty-two Cambodian sports delegates and athletes joined the event. Hosted by the Malaysian Boules Sports Federation, the regional sports event took place from Aug. 16 to 21, 2023, at the Arena Petanque Kuala Lumpur, with the participation of athletes from 15 countries.
