Phnom Penh, March 03, 2025 --

H.E. Chea Vuthy, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Investment Board at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new medical equipment factory in the Qilu Special Economic Zone, Svay Rieng province, on Sunday.

Nex Healthcare Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Shandong Blue Sail Health Technology Co., Ltd. from China’s Shandong province, is constructing the 21-hectare facility to produce PVC & rubber gloves, as well as medical equipment. The company is a global leader in its field, ranking third in medical gloves and fourth in heart monitoring devices worldwide, and second in China.

Speaking at the event, H.E. Chea Vuthy extended congratulations to the milestone investment stage and thanked the Chinese company for choosing Cambodia for its investment.

The increasing number of investment projects and special economic zones reflects Cambodia’s attractiveness to investors, contributing to job creation and economic growth, he underlined.

The free trade agreements, including those with China, South Korea, and member countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) have strengthened Cambodia's position as a gateway for international trade in the region.

Cambodia attracted fixed-asset investment of US$6.9 billion in 2024, up 40 percent from US$4.92 billion in the year before, according to a CDC’s report.

The country approved 414 investment projects last year, generating approximately 320,000 jobs, the CDC said, adding that China remains the top foreign investor in the Kingdom.
