Phnom Penh, December 12, 2024 --

The organiser calls on more buyers of books during the upcoming 11th Cambodia Book Fair on Dec. 19-22 to promote reading and authorship.

Secretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts H.E. Kim Pinun made the call during a press conference on the book fair on Dec. 11.

It is encouraging to see more and more visitors to the book fairs in the past years, but the organiser wants also to see as many buyers of books, he said.

Under the motto 'Reader and Learner for Life', the book fair this year will be held at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre at the heart of Phnom Penh to enable enough space to accommodate the anticipated higher number of visitors.

It is expected that the event will promote the publication of all kinds of books, both new and old, in order to market and encourage Cambodians, especially children and youth, to get into the habit of reading books and understand the value of reading for development.

According to Vice Chair of the Book Fair Organising Committee Mr. Sok Rithy, there are books to give away and be sold with discounts during the fair.

The number of book stalls planned for the book fair has also been increased to 292, let alone the other 20 erected for selling food and beverages.

Mr. Sok Rithy shared that the book fair in 2023 attracted 200,000 visitors.
