Phnom Penh, November 01, 2024 --

Cambodia has requested the Republic of Korea (RoK) to consider increasing the quota and job opportunities for Cambodian skilled workers so that they can contribute to developing their country after ending their job term in S. Korea.

The request was made by H.E. HENG Sour, Cambodian Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, during his bilateral meeting with H.E. KIM Min Seok, RoK's Vice Minister of Employment and Labour, on the sidelines of the 28th ASEAN Labour Ministers' Meeting and Related Meeting in Singapore on Oct. 31.

H.E. HENG Sour spoke highly of the RoK government's attention to the Cambodian migrant workers in S. Korea, as well as its support to vocational training skill development, especially in industry and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) law through the Korea Labour and Employment Service (KLES) and the Employment Permit System (EPS).

H.E. KIM Min Seok thanked H.E. HENG Sour for his appreciation and support for the RoK government's efforts during the 13th ASEAN Plus Three Labour Ministers’ Meeting (ALMM+3) in Singapore.

He reiterated the RoK's stand and commitment to strengthening the cooperation between the two countries in the labour and vocational training sector, particularly by improving the mechanism for accepting Cambodian migrant workers to work in S. Korea.
