The 32nd Southeast Asian Games, the first in Cambodian history, will feature 37 sports. After 64 years of waiting, Cambodia has chosen to include three sports that represent its national culture and identity, providing a chance to promote these national sports internationally. The host has the right to incorporate the traditional sports that members of society enjoy playing out of the 37 sports, according to HE Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the CAMSOC National Committee, who stated this on February 23, 2023. Although Cambodia has already held the Southeast Asian Championships in Khmer Martial Arts and Chess, the Southeast Asian Games host has decided to include Bokator, Khmer martial arts, and Chess.

He also stated that in order to be well-prepared to meet the aim of pursuing more medals for the country, the National Committee of CAMSOC is closely collaborating with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, National Sports Training Center.
